but......has anyone checked out page 70 ????????
This is one of the best articles ever....even
better than mine that they printed..extraordinary.

I get both Muzzleloader and Muzzle Blasts.

Although I think Muzzleloader is a better magazine, it only comes out every other month so there's only 6 issues a year.

Every so often Muzzle Blasts will have some really good stuff on building rifles and they usually have at least 3 or 4 articles that interest me.

They have the advantage of being issued by the month so there are 12 issues per year.
Also, I like the idea of getting it because it does help support the NMLRA.

Ditto on what you said Zonie! I may not ever make it to Friendship, but feel that supporting the organization is a very good thing. Getting the magazine every month is just frosting on the cake! They do have their "dry" months occasionally where there is little in the mag that floats my boat. But then....just like the Sept issue that just came, A great pictorial write up of Jud Brennan's Davy Crockett rifle with a wonderful article with pictures of the surviving rifle's used and owned by Crockett himself! My favorite part of MuzzleBlasts are the write ups on original guns by Dr. Whisker.

The last issue of Muzzle Blast that I got (June issue 2014) sealed it for me, Its the one with super fancy smoothbore with all this silver wire inlay, the one with the angel on the hammer. Well it turns out the barrel isn't even a gun barrel, its a piece of TUBING that he had profiled from a Getz barrel, I ask you, why not buy a Getz barrel?. He spent all this time an effort on a piece of tubing? an you can't even shoot the thing (Well, I wouldn't because he doesn't say what kind of tubing he used) :slap: . That ended it for me.

Priddy's shotgun is a true work of art and I agree. It is strange that he put over 2 years of work into a gun with a barrel made out of tubing.

Maybe he read all of the posts on the Muzzleloading Forum that praise the wonders of using DOM "Seamless" tubing? :stir:

:rotf:

I would like "Muzzlelaoder" much better if it were better printed. Many, if not most, of the pictures are hard to see (all B&W by-the-way) and the quality of the paper is wanting. It's a shame because there are some wonderful articles from from really great folks in there but after a recent 1 year subscription, I just can't justify spending my money on it. That's just my 2 cents. Note I'm not posting this to step on toes but just to make a few constructive comments. It would be nice if these and the comments of others could possibly lead to improvement

One one thought, American Tradition IS and remains the seminal publication for our hobby. I'm just hoping the quality stays high...Mick C

I'll have to check the two issues I own to see, but I swear the pictures in my copies were in color. Maybe I just have a really good imagination. :haha:

Somebody better get their eyes checked asap.

At least, the September/October 2014 MUZZLELOADER sitting in front of me has dozens of full color photos. In fact, I couldn't find even one just black and white photo.

The paper is not glossy but it is high quality stuff.

For those who say, "Well, that's a new issue. They probaly changed how they do things.", I also looked at a July/August 2013 issue.
It is also crammed full of full color photos in almost all of its articles.

I would say "Muzzleloader" would be a good choice, IMHO it would be a better magazine if they replaced that Tacky 1 & 2 guy with a better writer, I'm not a writer but I have been getting the magazine since the 70's and his articles seem to be the same old same old, they have never filled the void when Mark Baker left like they did when Ralph Marcum left, with that being said I am more into the history, trekking and hunting adventures, and how to articles, seems there could be a need for a Traditional Flintlock magazine IDK.

The paper quality and the full color printing was all added when Jason took over and moved the offices to TN. It also raised the price, but you get what you pay for.

I stand corrected. It's been a while since I have checked one out and was going on my past experience. I'm very glad to here the pic's are better quality. You guys have got me thinking of doing a new subscription. Again, thanks for setting me straight....MIck

Yep, I see color photos all through the three issues I now own. I just picked up the latest issue from the news stand.

I read that dogs see in black and white only, maybe someone's had eye replacement surgery with a dog being the donor. :rotf: :rotf:

Sure am glade we got that figured out,,I was afraid I was going color blind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rather have the pictures in B/W,if it brought the price down.

As long as there are pictures to tell me what it going on. If they are in black and white I could always break out my crayons and color them. :rotf:

I have to agree, the price is a bit high for a 6 issues a year subscription. I'm thinking it over and might give in. But my local book store carries it on the stand so I am always able to get it that way too. :)

Don't know what magazine you are referring to but Muzzleloader, since being bought by a new company, has put out full color photos throughout the magazine, printed on glossy paper.
