Ive used ball and the buffalo ballet in my 50 for deer both did great on deer. I would go with the .54 and ball its going to the job I know a guy that shot his moose with a 54 and ball and the moose only went like 15 yards and fell over .

I've heard a 308 will bounce off an elk but I think a round ball will kill'em just fine. I won't shoot at 'em if there over 100 yds.

I think I'm gonna mess a bit with they ob-long round balls to see what I think of 'em.

LMAO not true
i will also tell you a little 30 30 will do the job nicly even at 150 yards and probably has taken more elk then any other cal . all you have to do is hit your mark.

I don't know but they all told me my 6.5x57 wasn't gonna even bother any elk, first time I took it to my pard's ranch. After I shot the cow between the hams and the bullet was found in the brisket they quit tellin' me it took a cannon to kill one. ;-)
