Hello all. A while back I purchased a 1756 British Dragoon and the early doglock (Jacobian) pistols from Middlesex Village Trading. While I was satisfied with them for the money spent, I did not like the overall shinny finish. Fortunately the pistols don't seem to have the excess wood the longarms do. Anyway, I sent both pistols to Mike Brooks for antique-type refinishing. Well, I just received the Dragoon back. WOW !!! What a difference! I can hardly believe the difference. I guess nothing beats skilled, experienced, handwork. Mike sure has a great technique for refinishing. He told me he would post before and after pics on the Forum, but I don't know when. Can't wait to see the doglock. Ricky

A fellow Forum member just reminded me that I never posted the photos. Looks like it's been about five years now.
At the time, I did not know how to post photos. So, it appears I forgot about the whole matter.
Since then, I recently sold the Doglock pistol - that I did NOT have Mike re-do - to a fellow Forum member.
Well, better late than never? Here is my MVTC, Indian made, 1756 British Dragoon Pistol. Refinished by custom builder Mike Brooks. Also had to have the lock re-worked. Could not close the frizzen when the gun was in half-cock - even with a squared flint. She is much better looking now, and shoots good. Enjoy. Rick.
