But Roy said the wood was so good and carved so nice that you were going to get some special work weather you liked it or not!
I gather to say you did well Shine ...You did very well!
Good shootin and as always, be safe.

Beautiful. Be proud and enjoy.
I wondered about the Jaeger style triggers. I do like that style but the thread counting thing is starting to affect me since coming here. :shocked2: So, I looked up Moravia. It is/was Chezc/German. So you are legal. Carry on.

Although Moravia is a region on the german czech border. This rifle is a style that would have come from southeast PA. The folks that settled some of the small towns such as Christains Spring and bethlehem. Came from this region originally. This area produced gunsmiths like Beck and Albrecht. And the famous Edward Marshall rifle. Last winter Roy came up to see us at the Ancient ones of maine gunshow. He gave me the once in a lifetime opportunity to own my dream rifle. I warned him he may as well enter a deal with the devil. I gave him a long list of things i've always wanted on a rifle. Compiled over many years of thought. We discussed what would work and what would not. And he happily gave me what I wanted plus some. Im not a stitch counter and I prefer to have them with a side of bacon and coffee. But I wanted a rifle correct to a period and region that I grew to love in my many travels. My "persona" as a rifleman is not somthing I conjured up. It is a title I earned with sweat and blood. I just back dated it 200 or so years. I wanted a rifle that showed the roots of my trade. Somthing that a man who makes his living witha rifle would want.I think Roy captured that perfectly. Though this rifle is not an exact copy of one gun. It is somthing that would have been built. As I sit here writing this dribble the next generation of Stevens riflemen is tugging at my leg wanting his diaper changed. So thanks Roy your the greatest.

Awesome rifle Shine and Roy! I agree you got the premo behind the cheek piece, very nice. All of Roy's guns handle nice and it's because the architecture is there. You'll get use to and enjoy the feel of it really quick. Congrats guys!

That side opening patchbox fought with me.. Hindsight I should have use a thicker piece of brass. :haha:

If anyone is wondering it has a coned b-weight Charles Burton barrel, Chambers lock, and stocked in cherry.. 13 1/2" LOP

 Nice!
I'm sure you're gonna love it. Roy builds a sweet handling rifle. :hatsoff:

Well Ive owned this rifle for 2 weeks now Ive gone through a pound and a half of powder without even so much as a hangfire. Which is freakin incredible. The chambers early germanic lock is perfectly tuned. It will fire upside down. The frizzen to pan fit is so tight it survived a 5 second dunking in a pail and the powder was still dry. "Note to roy,I placed my thumb over the backside of the lock. I promise I did not dunk the whole rifle. Although I have a swimming pool and was tempted." The triggers are very well tuned so it can be fired without setting the rear. Set it measures a clean 2 pounds . Now on to the barrel it is manufactured By Charles Burton. And I am impressed. It has round bottomed rifleling,.50 cal, swamped, and was coned by him. I was told that he has a system to test fire his barrels before leaving his shop. I was also told he thought of keeping this barrel for himself. Well im glad he did not. The first 5 shots out of this gun touched at 25 yards. I continued to fire more rounds about 20 total into a group the size of a nickel with no flyers. I did this without wiping the bore . This in itself was impressive but I wanted to see what this rifle would do at range. I shot a target at 100 yards and was very pleased with 3 shots. Wait for it..... I spent the last week bear hunting in western maine. We had a bad year and no bear were taken. For many reasons from a hurricane to beechnuts but that is another story. The last time I loaded this rifle was thursday of last week. I brought it home with charge in it saturday. This morning I finally got down to the pit to shoot it. I proceded to fire this 5 shot group at 100 yrds of a rest.

This group measures 1.5 inches from center. This the most accurate flintlock rifle I have ever owned. Im getting these results before the gun is even "broke in". Im used to just broken. We have seen the pics of the gun and the fit and finish is masterful work. The only thing I would have had done different was to have my son's initials engraved on this rifle. Because it is way to nice to throw in the hole with me. So I guess he can have it some day.
Thanks Roy
