Hatchet Jack - we are living vicariously through your build!!!! We need more pics and update on your progress....LOL
I am enjoying your journey building this rifle.

I received some supplies from TOTW. Cards, Wads, a .600 Lee double cavity ball mold, ramrod tip, cleaning jag, and ball puller. I'm a long ways off from shooting this smoothbore but I'll be ready when she's done!

Anyway finally getting back to the build after being down with a cold I'm working on inletting the trigger plate.

It took some cold smithing to widen it out and shape it to cover the routed area but I'm please with the tight fit.

Alright now I need to make a drill press jig and drill the tang bolt and tap the trigger plate. Then pin the trigger.

Drilled the Tang Bolt and tapped the Trigger Plate. The head on the tang bolt was too big in my opinion so I turned it down to make it smaller. My guide worked very well.

I've been practicing some carving and engraving between working on the Fowler as plan to do a little on this piece. I spoke to Mike Miller out at the Fall Nationals last week. He's a really nice guy and a master builder. He's agreed to help me with my carving skills once I get the Fowler assembled. This will be a great opportunity to learn from such a master artist.

Call me jealous! I've been waiting for my Chamber English Fowler since September, I guess a fancy chunk of walnut is hard to come by... Not a big deal, I told Barbie that since it didn't come last winter that I wouldn't get to it until next. She assured me that it would be a very nice representative of the species when I do get it...

Looks good so far, keep up with the pics!

I ordered the new england Fowler in March. I ordered the extra fancy Maple. Guess I'm in for a wait.
