Below is a pic of three Thompson Center rifles I have found in pawn shops's over the last 2 years.

three-TCs.jpg

Top: TC Cherokee .32cal with spare .45cal barrel. Paid $125 in Sept 05.

Middle: TC New Englander .50cal. Paid $130 in Feb 05

Bottom: TC Hawken .50cal. Just bought this one today ( Feb 07 ) for $100!!!

Edited to add:

The Cherokee stock has a sling blemish just in from of the rear sight on both sides, the .45cal barrel is rough but the .32 barrel was unfired. Orginally the trigger pull was about 15#'s, sent it in to TC for a trigger job and its now about 3-4#'s and was covered under the lifetime warrenty.

The New Englander was literally brand new except for a couple scuff marks on the stock. It was traded in on a scoped bolt action inline by the previous owner...LOL!

The Hawken has some scratches on the stock and a spot ot two of rust on the hammer. The bore is in good shape but it turn a patch brown after being swabbed.

Scored 3 times man. thats a hat trick lol. nice finds bro. they all look to be in great shape.

Nothing like that in the few pawnshops around here that still carry guns. You live in a blessed area, plus a short drive to some of my favorite beaches. :winking:

beautiful finds!! you have been blessed my the muzzleloading gods. pawn shops around here dont have anytthing like that EVER!! there is one that has a few of the plastic stocked walmart type guns from time to time, but nothing with real wood. i did go pawning in a college town about 60 miles up the road some time ago, and ran into one shop that had quite a few, but they where all 45 cal and i was looking for small bore at the time.

again congrats!!!

Good scores but I have a question. That top rifle does not look like my Cherokee at all, at least in that pic. Do you have a close up of it? It looks like it has a single trigger.

greetings pits,

the cherokees came with double or single triggers.

..ttfn..grampa..

Thanks for the complements!! Browsing the pawn shops, and used racks in gun shops, is yet another hobby of mine. One reason I got such a great deal on the TC Hawken was because the rear trigger "didn't work"! The shop guy made sure I knew the rear trigger was "broke" :rotf: and didnt work because he would not do a refund once the purchase was made. Low and behold the rear trigger works as it was designed

Pitt,

Cherokee's came with either a single or double trigger. When I first bought this one the trigger pull was at least 15#'s if not more. I called TC and the first question they ask was if it had a single or double trigger. Anyway, I sent it to TC and they adjusted the trigger (free of charge -shipping to them) and now it breaks clean between 3-4#'s.

Black powder subs will sometimes cause
that.
Great finds!
snake-eyes :hmm:

You lucky dog  Our shops are full of rust buckets.Congrats on some great finds.

Nice deals you picked up there! I frequent certain pawn shops in my area as well. In December 06 I also picked up a TC New Englander for $100.00. Dealing with those folks is fun when they think they are such experts in blackpowder. My wife hates it when she finds out I have been at pawn shop saying "what did you buy this time!!!" :rotf: :rotf:

I`ve cruised alot of pawn shops looking for black powder rifles only to find rusty clubs..You did good

Wow - I hardly ever see muzzle loaders at gun shops or pawn shops around here- and when I do, they are priced too high or are manure.

Congrats!

I can find "traditioinal" bp guns in the pawn and gun shop around here, they just usually want too much for them. I thought I was going to get a CVA Mountain rifle pretty cheap when the gun shop owner said he'd give me a really good deal on the gun since he even said he didn't know much about BP guns. I had alrady pointed out that "Civil War" gun he had on the rack was a Zouave model and didn't really see any action in the Civil War. Anyway, he told me he'd about give me the CVA. The .50 bore was so rusty it looked like it was a fuzzy .45 - completely gone. It was offered to me for the low low price of $150, I politely declined. Kurt/IL

O.S.O.K. Nice avitar.

Well, thanks. Its just one of the "stock" avatars and I've seen that others are using it too. Wasn't much of a problem choosing after I saw it.
