Need a sight filler

I installed the rear sight then got to playing around with a peep. Would like a nice sight filler. Thought about cutting the actual sight part off and file it down and finish and use it for the filler. It's a feather finial sight.heres the peep.

cut and file fit a piece of scrap steel and brown or blue to match. very easy

You can fit a piece of steel, slightly tall and slightly wide into the dovetail an with some judicious peening around the edges, and a little filing, it will be virtually invisible. Or you can put a semi decorative piece in there.
I call it, if you can't rope it out, rope it in.

Marbles, Williams and Lyman initially come to mind as making sight slot blanks out of various materials. You can find them for sale at places like Brownells and Midway.

I grab a cheapo rear take-odd rear longleaf rear sight (usually off an old .22RF) from some gunsmith's junk box & cut off the long leaf, then reshape/file the cut to match the front.

I use a cut to shape .01 copper penny for sight blank fillers.

I also shaped and old copper penny and once it was in the slot I carefully stippled the top of it. It has aged to a nice patina.
