Don't want to hijack this thread, but since I have a similar issue (rusty/pitted bore) I'll add a question to the conversation. Before I send the barrel to Mr. Hoyt for relining I thought I'd try boiling it out followed by the scotchbrite or choreboy treatement, or may try soaking in molasses. I have a bluing tank long enough to immerse the barrel. So, the question is would it be advisable to remove the rear sight before subjecting the barrel to all this torture treatment? Thanks in advance.
