That's not the way documentation works. I'd like to have a CVA Mountain Rifle, I like them. I'll probably buy one, if I find one in good condition. Most of one sold on eBay about 2 weeks ago for $157.00 I believe.

Since we have no proof that any were ever fitted with Douglas barrels, I don't think I'd pay extra for the Made in USA markings.

I think alot of us would pay a little more for the markings. We are americans and are patriotic.
We have choices in the USA.
My cva 4 screw Mt rifle also has a low numbered barrel, assumably by Douglas....it shoots great, I like it and am proud of it.
Also of note....I have seen stated here and on other sites, some very reputable muzzleloaders (aka lyman) are made off our shores and have parts interchangable with other less liked brand names. public knowwledge.
lastly of note...when I used to shoot competive shotgun events....with my american made high dollar tricked out make all the others jelous bgar guns, there were uncountable times where joe nobody showed up with his junker import POS gun and won the event! good for him! My favorite experience was losing to a guy who thought what we were doing looked fun, so he went to the local kmart, bought a off the rack H&R single barrel hammer 12ga (on sale for 49.97), some onsale gamebird loads, came back, entered and won the event! This is what makes america fun! choices.

Sorry to ramble on, but I did.

Don't ask me about the Douglas barrel thing. Call up CVA and talk with the rep who told me that's what they were. He was there two weeks ago. Heck, maybe they can dig up their invoices for you? It really doesn't matter that they are genuine Douglas barrels if anecdotal evidence suggests those barrels shoot well.

As for the "new" Douglas "target" barrels as sold on Auction Arms, etc, I have seen posts that say this fellow supposedly bought the old Douglas machinery. It went on to say that doesn't make them Douglas barrels as it takes experience to produce a good barrel and there's no guarantee of how worn that equipment is. Stuff does wear out.
