Need written clarification on, because I lost my OLD NMLRA Rule Book. The THREE Rules to me are a Big Deal.

ARE NMLRA Safety RULES ON LINE????

1. NO Blowing Down a Barrel for any Reason

2. NO Direct Pouring of Powder from a Horn, or Flask. This has to do with those Powder Horns, or Powder Flasks that have a device that when the end of the Horn or Flask is BLOCKED, say by a Finger, or Thumb you can Flip a Button, or Lever, a Powder is Released a into the AREA BETWEEN THE GATE (device separating most of powder from small charge), and Finger or Thumb.

3. A Powder Measure, or Tube must be used to Pour Powder into in a small charge, down the Muzzle.

Was at a New Range Shoot a couple of weeks ago, and they were allowing. Blowing Down Barrels, Poring Powder Directly from Horn & Flasks into Barrels.

Safety person said this was OK by NMLRA SAFETY RULES, and I think they got it wrong?

1090”“BLOWING DOWN THE BARREL”“There will be NO blowing down the barrel of any firearm during NMLRA matches in any manner that requires placing the head in front of the muzzle. A flexible blow tube may be used at the shooter’s option, provided that the shooter’s head is not placed in front of the muzzle.

1220”“POWDER MEASURE”“A separate powder measure or holder will be used to carry the powder charge from container to the muzzle of the gun. Charging directly from horn or flask is unsafe and is not permitted.

Time to get a rule book and educate those who need help. I know there is some who think it's OK to blow down the barrel--I don't and I explain it this way, when is it OK to put a barrel of a gun in your mouth? NEVER - that usually helps people understand that it's not PC, if nothing else.

Yes, it is on line. If you go to the NMLRA website, about us at the bottom of the drop down box is the rule book. Good Luck, let me know if you need help.

Thanks for all the replies. Got what I need, will print it off, time to educate so no one is hurt.

IMHO Muzzleloaders have some unique safety problem, that novices, can get hurt because of nothing but ignorance.

Don't need luck as a few of the rules pertaining to the safety problems were copies, and attached in a e-mail to a person in-charge.

I am sure if they care about safety, accident prevention, and keeping their insurance, they will read, learn, and implement a few changes.

Safety is a big deal, even bigger if you are the victim of someone misuse of firearms.
