John,

This time of the year the hens are heavy with eggs and the cock birds are chasing the hens--on the ground! Those cock birds can surely run! Good excercise for me and the pointer! :rotf:

Glad to make your acquaintance!

Dave,

I would like to know more about your speed loaders. I didn't get to finishing my 20 gauge this year in time for the hunt so I am using my browm bess. Its about an 11 guage and I was toying with trying to put the powder wads and shot etc. in a paper cartridge and then try to load with that. Usually I just load from the horn and from the shot pouch.

Turkey season starts in May here.

My speed-loaders are those little red tubes from RMC (Rightnour Manufacturing Co.) for just the powder. Then I use a .125 OP card, then a 10 ga. wonder-wad that I've schmered more bore butter on to, then a cushion wad, then the shot charge of 1 1/8 oz of #7.5 combined with 7/8 oz of # 6's for a total charge weight of 2.0 oz.

The shot is held in prescription medicine bottles that pour really easy while I'm walking to catch-up with the rest of the hunting party. Two OS cards is on top of the shot, so that the load doesn't shift during the recoil of the SxS.

I've never tried to do what you're talking about with combining the components in the manner you write about, so let us know how it works out.

Dave
