Got a new Pietta 1851 Navy .36 from Budsgunshop.com. I saw that they had 1851 Navy London (with steel backstrap and trigger guard) on sale for $307 which I thought was a good price so I ordered one. Unfortunately I received a standard 1851 with brass backstrap and trigger guard. I saw a previous review stating that is what they got also. I looked up Pietta's product numbers for the 2 models and listed them in my review as well as being disappointed that I did not receive what was shown and described in the product page. Anyway, it is a nice revolver so I am going to keep it.
I may want to shoot this in some NMLRA type matches so I would like to make the revolver as accurate as possible. I slugged the barrel and chambers. I got .372 for the grooves and .368 for the chamber mouths. From what I have been reading here I think it might be a good idea to ream the chambers to .373-.374?
Also, I may want to change the front sight to a dovetailed sight. I don't know how up to date the NMLRA rules on their website is, but they state that dovetail sights can't be "partridge sight" and that Remington sights have to have the "half round" shape. I am looking at this sight at Track of the Wolf.
Would it conform to the rules?

Definitely a good idea to open up the chambers. I don't have an answer for the front sight. I don't shoot competition these days.
