I just finished a new rifle and wanted to show it off.šŸ˜ It was built for me "in the white" so I could do the final finishing. I think it turned out pretty well.

It looks OK from the distance that the picture was taken at. Looks like a nice rifle - good luck with it - let us know how it shoots and the rifle's details.

I want to take some better pictures when the weather gets better here. I'm really happy with it. It was built for me by Mike Roby. He sent it to me in the white because I wanted to finish the wood and metal.

*The barrel is a 1 inch straight octagon .58 caliber from an old CVA Mountain Rifle that was cut and rebreached and a Chamber's vent installed.

* The lock is a Chamber's Deluxe Siler lock.

*The stock is a straight grain maple from Pecatonica.

*The rest of the parts came out of Mike's parts bin.

*I stained the stock with 2 coats of Minwax Gunstock then 2 coats of Varathane Black Cherry, rubbed back with denim cloth. Finished with 3 coats of boiled linseed oil.

* Metal parts were cold blued and rubbed back with 0000 steel wool.

Took some close up pics. Lighting not the best, but too wet for outside pics.

Okay. Finally got to shoot it. Definitely not my best shooting, but it's acceptable for now. This was 25 yards offhand. I will have to get it on a rest and tinker with different loads to see what it likes. This was 80 grains of 3F with a .570 ball .015 prelubed and precut patches that I had laying around.

Regardless.....it definitely put a smile on my face šŸ˜

Very nice rifle. I want to see some 50 yard targets.

This is my final group from a rest at 50 yards.
I would have gotten it in the x ring, but I got my jag stuck after the last string of fire and had to get home to get it out.
This is 6 shots, or rather, my last two 3 shot groups. Together that's about an inch and 3/4 for all 6 shots.
