Evening all, since I'm recovering from hand surgery with a few weeks off, I've slowly been progressing with a few projects. I unfortunately have limited mobility, but enough to sew and tinker with small items. May be down, but I'm never out!

Made a new possible bag with glass beadwork using a two bead method my grandmother taught me awhile back. I also added a cutout of a turtle silhouette backed with red wool. Thirteen white seed beads have been sewn onto the wool to represent the thirteen segments on a turtles back. Bag has been sewn with waxed linen thread, beadwork as well.

Next project was a new necknife shealth. Constructed from tooling leather, rawhide liner and a nice welt along the seams. Simple saddle stich for the glass seed beads that also joins the sheath. Also utilized the two bead method along the top portion as well. Neck strap is made with sinew adorned with real quahog and whelk wampum beads, sterling trade beads and glass beads. Threw a few silver trade pieces in and five horse hair tassels to complete the look. All sewing again done with waxed linen and the leather dressed with my fixin wax recipe.

Happy with the results, given my current situation. It's very relaxing being in my own element. Having piece and quite with sage burning in the background has made for some good days. More to come, working on a finger woven/ twined bag that's going to be great... and much more!

Amazing work :hatsoff:

What did you use, and how did you attach the band near the base of the horn? I can not tell how you did it, but if you wanted your neck to be either a different piece of horn or wood: what technique would you use to join the two pieces?

Thank you

Looks good old friend.

(Unfortunately, we were attacked by a warring native tribe while at a rendezvous, crewdawg went all eastern woodlands ninja warrior and saved us).

Very nice work. The bead work is especially impressive. You definitely created a style that runs through the whole outfit.

That would be excellent work for a man with two good hands but amazing for a man working with only one good hand. I am amazed. I just wish I lived closer so I could come learn your beading techniques.

Thank you gents (and gals) the knife is actually made by Dean Oliver. They don't have his knives on Crazy crow. I believe their maker copy cats his knives since there is no patent. Could be wrong on that, but I purchased it at a trade event a few years back. I can get you his info if you'd like. I also have another knife made by him and it's wonderful. The strap on the horn is secured by staples that I made.

I can do a how-to on the beadwork. It's not overly hard once you get moving.

I actually made a knife today just tinkering around. Had the wife help out on some parts since I'm gimped up, but it turned out very nice. Blade is actually cooling from the final temper. I'll post pictures later once the blade is pinned to the handle. Actually strating the sheath this evening. Hand is healing well, 18 stitches later and obviously some pain things are going in a positive direction.

It is, As with anything beaded there's always an element of careful nature involved with its use. I have many beaded bags that over the years have never lost beads unless it's from my own carelessness. Same goes for my many pairs of beaded leggings. Thank you for the kind complement as well, much appreciated.

Thank you cowboy, very much appreciate you kind words my friend. Certainly makes me want to strive harder! Finishing up a twined bag and a new knife I forged out yesterday. I'll post images and descriptions later.

When I first saw your shooting bag, I thought the animal motif on it was a red fabric the same color as the beads, I can't even imagine how you got all those beads woven so close together :hatsoff:

I made a bag with tin cones and deer hair, and my first hunting trip with it, some of the deer hair was gone. It didn't fall out, it broke off when I sat down. I now carry it higher.
