g'day folks, well the new gpr turned up and it was "pretty" wood and finish looked real good, bore cleaned up real well, was all confident it would shoot good too.
:hatsoff:
went out bush capped her up let her off all good seems to work, went bang anyway.... :v loaded her up with a light load and ball .010 patch yep went bang made a hole in the tree next to aiming mark... yep all good ran a patch thru, felt good. reloaded, time to try set trigger, set squeeze front trigger hold sight picture........nothing.... ......hammer catches at 1/2 cock... damn.... recock, set trigger, aim squeeze trigger........damn. 1/2 cock again.... :cursing:
recock, PULL front trigger real hard....BANG...ball about 2 foot to the right can't hold it straight and exert about 20lbs of trigger squeeze. :hmm: swab out remove lock...no bloody fly in lock mechanism so it returns to 1/2 lock position every time...yep I am one really upset shooter at this stage. :nono: rang my dealer first thing monday morning to find out how to fix it,told I would have to return rifle to brisbane for warranty...about here I got a bit cranky :youcrazy: and told him where the rifle was going to be returned to...and he wasn't going to be a virgin when I finished. :yakyak: .that got his attention...so he rang nioa in brisbane who import lyman gear. one of the guys from brissy rang me and when I stopped ranting at him, I was told " we have to remove the fly or customs says the trigger is too light, and will confiscate firearm when it enters country." so after giving me a warning about light triggers and their use. he express mailed a fly to me and it just turned up. I will put it in and try again this arvo....damn who said this black powder thing was fun and easy.. :surrender: ...good shooting and glad tidings from downunder,

I don't think any said it was easy . It is a great sport for people who like to tinker with things. Some flys need to go in one direction only so be aware of that. What is the season on trees over there anyway?

back again, fly in, all feels good

I will make a call and find out season but probably trunk call
:rotf:

Tuff to be cranky with the company when you have a Dill-Hole Liberal Government.
To bad they dont just include the fly in the box seperately with a letter of explaination...???

yeh would make life a lot easier. I think the fly might be removed to come thru customs but just forgot to replace it before sale. I'm a happy little vegemite now though

:rotf: :rotf:
Glad to see the only trouble you've had so far is from the government :surrender: An it must be a comfort to know they're thinking of your safety :haha:

Insane Govt.is no stranger here.In Washington you can store only 5# of powder in your garage but you can have 50# in the trunk of your car on the driveway??????

g'day all, finally got back out to check new toy, happily it all worked well. went bang when it should have and hit the paper so now I am a happy little vegemite, just got to keep working at finding the right combination now....thanks for encouragement.. yes it is a shame our government has to protect us so mightily from ourselves.
funny thing happened on the way out to farm. had rifle wrapped up on seat in ute and 3 little pigs ran across the road, now with a smokeless stick, slide ute to a stop jam round in and take at least one little oven filler home... now it goes like this.....damn can I swab oil from barrell?? where was the powder horn? is there a ball and patch in the pouch of the belt? can I do all this before they run over the hill? damn might have to come back tomorrow.....fun and joy, might have to put smokeless stick in for unexpected suprises.lol

:rotf:

that would be real handy we near have to chain them to the chassis of the vehicle and keep ammo and bolts in a separate locked container.
