If JP Beck saw this rifle he'd probably roll over in his grave, but I hope my brother likes it. Everything on it is Beck except the carving and the patchbox. If he still insists on shooting his Weatherby 270 after I give him this, you're looking at next years raffle gun. It 54 caliber, swamped Rice barrel, large Siler lock, single trigger, and a handmade patchbox.

That is indeed some fine craftsmanship.

For only having an hour a day to work... that's nice stuff. I won't be getting anything I really want, ...again!

I don't know who Beck is, but I do like a good American banana gun and that one is just about perfect

I have a 1 year old daughter that enjoys tearing open the presents. Everything's in the closet. You guys make me laugh "up for adoption". Anyway, thank for all the nice comments. My next project is going to be a 40 caliber smoothbore rifle. I'm building it for one reason, to win the Blackpowder sighted smoothbore championship!!!
:blah:
I'm using a Walnut stock, 42 inch Rayl barrel, small Siler percussion lock, with double set triggers. It'll be like a 410 on steroids.

Wow, that is gorgeous! I wish that I had the time, patience, talent and tools to do that. At this point, I am 0 for 4. I would hate to see you lose that skill, so I want to help. I will send you a rough blank of Cherry and the basic iron parts, you can practice on it and send it all back to me when you have it looking something like that beauty. What do you think? :redthumb:

WOW.
It is a work of art. Almost too prety to shoot
I am sure he will treasure it. I sure would

i'll buy 100 tickets then....i'm looking for a .54 next year to build but it won't look like that i'm sure..................bob

Wow! If that doesn't get him to mothball the Weatherby, nothing will. Maybe if you had added a section of bowling balll to the forend tip and put in an exaggerated Monte Carlo cheekpiece.

American Bananna Gun?

A countryman of the feller what put a lock-plate on a musket like that above should be careful pointing banannas. ::
