14 hours, that's got to be a labor of love.
I spend about an hour cutting rifling but I'm doing mostly cartridge barrels and the rifling is only .004" to .005" deep and there is an electric motor doing most of the work. A spring loaded cutter box saves time also. With your machine you don't need a club to go to for exersize. Keep up the good work and teachs others how to do it the old way.
Well Davy, the girls and I got the rifler assembled with the exception of the clamps. Probably will do them next week. Works pretty well for an old fat man's trials and tribulations. Enjoy the photo. Cheers, Bookie
Yo! Pork Chop!! Man, where've you been? Ain't you ever heerd of a "Yankee Screwdriver"? Just takes a tad bit more carving and works like a charm!! :winking: Cheers, Bookie
Davy, just in from the shop. Have invented a new, single, round tooth of bronze to replace the oblong wooden one on the rifler. A gain twist worm can now be exchanged in place of the current 1 in 56" worm, and the rifler used that instant with NO issues! I am really busting my buttons over this one. Wood would work just as well, but I had this small piece of bronze rod..... A photo will be posted in a day or so. Cheers, Bookie
Well, gents. Here it is. The tooth is just a piece of 3/8" brass rod. I tried to get a shot of the tooth as it sticks out for the worm and where it enters the head. It works and works well. The washers are a temp. set-up for convienience and will be done away with. Bookie
