I don't worry about the looks from the clerks, but the women haunting the selection of purses are viscious. After being elbowed at least twice and shoved aside none too gently on more than one occaision, I learned to stay away from anything remotely resembling a Gucci or Armani product. Yup, it's the worn out hippie bags and rough weaved cloth belts for me.

Now how about those whoo carry a haversack. This was supposed to be just for your food stuff during the civil war you carried your food and food eating utinsils in them.
I carry a haversack to gun shows, that bugger at times can be very heavy, depending on what I buy. I have seen fellers carry them at civ war events containing items like cameras, canned soda pop, wallets, check books. I usully have 2 when I go to a event.
We don't use a possible bag. what we have is a cartridge box, and cap pouch, and thats it out on the field. Except sargents should carry a sargents tool in thier pockets.

I think the possiable bag came first and mine looks nothing like a purse I have seen carried! Geo. T.

I ,like a few others, found a purse at a yard sale well made and a spitting image of a "Scottish shooting bag". In Dixie GW .so I figured I would remove the zippers and make a shooting bag out of it ,then my wife mentioned it at work,What a ruckus!I lost the bag,It seems it was a "Coach"bag and some women will kill for them!My wife's friend has it today-who knew?

You lost out man. You could have sold that bag for enough to buy 2 new bags from ToTW already made, and had some leftover for accessories. :slap: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Well, a possibles (shooting) bag may be like a purse, but nobody's going to call it that if you're carrying a gun at the same time! :haha:

Uh......yeah! What Rifleman1776 said. Also, no matter what you call it, some HC/PC Nazi will challange you on it just to have something to say. Now pass me that jug.

I a actually did some quick research at the time and found some of those bags are actually leased out by some enterprisers!big bucks.

Ok, I am posting to clear up this farce..... :yakyak:

A 'possibles bag' is because you might possibly have 'it' or something in it...

A purse is because it HAS 'it' in it.... :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

no such thing as a 'man purse'....... :surrender: :surrender:

Its easy. Check the following list:

car keys
cell phone
eyeglasses/sunglasses
wallet
cigarettes/lighter
candy
snack
swiss army knife
band aids

If the bag in question has three or more of the above items in it, then no matter how many roundballs, flints or percussion caps are added, it is still a "man purse" :nono:

:nono: Careful now laddy. Me sporran carries more than three of those items, and if ye call it a manpurse, or suggest I'm wearin a dress we're goin to have a problem now ya hear.
:rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :blah: :blah: :blah:

From observing the weight and quantity of stuff my wife and daughters put into their purses, I would say the correct term for the larger shooting bag is a possibles bag. And for the thing my wife and daughters carry, the term would be suitcase.
