Took the Jukar out again today. Man, I like .45 caliber in a rifle! I had filed the front sight down to raise the point of impact. It’s good now. With 50 grains of 3f I was consistently hitting a pop can sized target. Can’t wait to take it back out and try it at 50 yards.

Did I mention that I really like .45 caliber?

My favorite caliber.

That "IS" a little bear. Yearling at best.
And your gun is fully capable of making one hole at 50yrds,(off hand) I honestly wish I could help ya.
But your target is a pop can, don't shoot at the pop can,, shoot at the "O" in the cola logo,
Again, aim small,,,,,,,

I agree with all that. After going back and looking at the pictures, I could see that it was a young bear. But at the time it seemed big. They have just become more common in our county the last few years, even showing up in residential areas now so it’s kind of a new thing and any bear is a big bear.

I have no doubt the rifle is capable of better accuracy and I’ll eventually get there. Like I said, just gotta work on the nut behind the stock. However, when I get a decent group on paper (paper is boring) I start shooting at other things like cans, sticks, skeet, etc. By the way, I do have some other muzzleloading rifles that I can already shoot tiny groups (sometimes) at 100 yards with open sights, but paper is boring.

Thanks though!

Yesterday was my New Jukar day (well, new to me). Picked it up from a Pawn shop for $250 - a little pricey for an old rifle but it looks almost brand new. No powder residue behind lock or side plate, barrel has a faint touch of rust but a good cleaning will fix that. Only the spot on the rifle that looks "messed up" is the middle where the brass plates are. Plus it looks like there are no pins locking the barrel to the stock, as the fore stock moves back and forth slightly. All in all I am very pleased with it. After a good cleaning and inspection it'll be range time!
