New to me at least. Went back to the gun store to look at the .45 caliber Jukar percussion rifle I had mentioned in the ‘Traditions’ thread. The guy shoved it into my hands, ripped the money from my pocket and told me to take it out the door! Well what choice did I have?

It only had two issues if you could call them issues. The outside was dirty and a little grimy. Easy to take care of.

The bore had only a very little rust right at the muzzle. The rest of the barrel was shiny and smooth. Here’s some before cleaning

Not bad for less than $1500.00.

I don’t know if it was a kit or somebody refinished it, but I like the way looks. It matches my CVA .45 caliber Kentucky pistol.

I appreciate old Jukars/Dikars/CVA's/Ardesa's/Tradtions. I like your rifle. I really do. I'm sure with a bit of cleanup it will be a nice shooter. I KNOW it will be from experience.

I sincerely hope you are kidding about "less than $1500". Your rifle in the condition pictured is worth $100 to $200. Cleaned up a bit with a bright bore is worth $200 to $400 dollars to the right person.

You brought back some memories by posting pictures of that old Jukar.

My dad had a Jukar just like it, we shot it a fair amount and if my memory serves me correctly it's accuracy was acceptable.

I later ended up with one in kit form thanks to my brother, it was a pawn shop find, he called me and I said I would take it. It was under $1500.00 too, way under...lol. $25 to be exact. Pretty certain it was before I could drive, I remember having fun putting it together, it was missing the side plate and the brass plate between the 2 stock sections. Dad brought home a piece of brass and I cut them out from tracing the stock.

I hope you enjoy yours much as I have mine.

Well, the '$1500.00' dollar thing's been pretty well covered so, guess I got nothin' to add except enjoy your rifle. Been semi-lookin' for one of these cheap enough to make a blanket gun like one I saw a while back.

Brother I'm glad you got it. Thought about it today and was gonna ask if you made your mind up on it. I've yet to fire one of these that wasn't plenty accurate. Comfortable to carry all day too. Congrats and welcome to the Jukar club.

Those barrels are tack drivers!
And locks are fast too, if ya keep it lubed and get that set screw set right.
(I like the sear point real short)
Folks think their front heavy so they always cut'm off then grumble about the nose cap,,,
I like to add weight to the butt, pound or better,,
I take the butt plate off and use 5/16 bit and drill two holes in a V shape probably 2"+,, then fill it with melted lead.
(It's a couple dip's with a lyman ladle)
Sure, it makes it heavier,, but that thing will "hang" on a target spot real easy!!
