The two best solutions are to use a thin pipe or a wire (think coat hanger) bent into a corkscrew on the end.

Not if you're inside!Shoot it out is best
True. I had a brush fall off not long ago; it was an under sized brush, 45cal in a 50cal bore. I was stupid as I did not notice the threads didn't match but I just wanted to knock off a small bit of stubborn 'muck'.Not if you're inside!

It slide right down but the brush pulled right out - Dang It, and I was INSIDE too!!
Oh my, oh my, what to do?!? And I am INSIDE, at the dinning table!!!!!!!
Then it hit me: Stand up and go to the Outside!! A Brain Storm, my head was realing with confusion!
But it worked; I trickled a little powder in through the touch hole while was Inside, then took it Outside, and pointing at the fence I Pulled The Trigger and out it came.
I sure hope I can remember all that if it ever happens again!!
Maybe I should write down....
Dang all this 'thinking' stuff sure makes my head hurt!!
Ya, our town here has a "No fire in city limits" law too.Unfortunately, I live in town limits. The great brains of the town council might not agree with me!
As you did, I have done. And I keep fighting the battle of converting everything to 10/32 threads. I'm close, but I keep an adapter in my possibles bag to keep Murphy at bay.
Exactly. Worked great for me.I think a piece if copper/aluminum/other tubing that just fits in the bore can be run down over the brush, folding the bristles down as it goes and capture the brush, similar to Art Caputo's empty casing. It's a thing that I read long ago somewhere, but I haven't had a stuck brush to try it. The key would be in taking away all brush to bore contact. If the patch stays in the bore it can be gotten with worm or screw.
That is why I live outside any city limits at least two miles from the nearest ones. I can shoot off my front dck, back deck, downstairs door or any other place on our 60 acres. All of our neighbors can do the same without anyone complaining.Ya, our town here has a "No fire in city limits" law too.
