Wipe after each shot and you will not have this issue. Which you should be doing anyways. You want to have the bore conditions consistent shot to shot.

As for olive oil in a gun...
It is for salads and cooking. Leave it in the kitchen.
 
Oh and for swabbing between shots I find a mop slightly damp with pure alcohol is much better than a patch on a jag. I put the mop on the rifles ram rod and use it for swabbing only, and I use my range rod for loading.
