Old lock

I pulled apart an old .32 I picked up. Looks like a homemade deal. No idea where the barrel came from since it has multiple dovetail slots on the bottom. But the lock appears to have been worked over quite a few times. Gun shoots pretty well but no telling how long.

The way the spring end is below edge of lockplate, must be a gap in the wood on the bottom of the lockplate, no?

That’s the camera angle. The lockplate fits nice without a gap.

Actually in the photo of the inside of the assembled lock a portion of the stirrup and mainspring are below the bottom edge of the lock plate. This usually isn't a problem as the nipple stops the hammer when the lock is in the gun before it reaches this position.
