Well, seems like I've always been able to make it happen until this year and never have I had so much trouble. Should have kept my old octagon barrel cva, percussion caps, black powder and round balls. In my teen years I could drive tacks with the open sights. In the early 90's I decided to go high tech and purchased a MK-85. and for years shooting 44 cal 240gr with the green sabot, ffg black powder it too would drive tacks. However it seemed as the years went by it didn't want to pattern as well and I started trying different bullets and powders to try again to make it happen. Quick connect $120.00 scope mounts and then a new then sportview 3x9 bushnell shot ok again with the 44 cal, green sabot and pyrodex. Went to 209 system about 5 years ago and have since put the percussion cap system back in since knight would not answer phone and emails were one word "no's" when I would ask if anything to put on and take off the red plastic adapter and make things easier had been developed and throw away the plastic crap that finally broke. Have since bought a new CVA optima 50 and have been taking both to the range but still can't get either one to perform like I want. Powerbelts 245, 44 cal bullets with green sabot, loose 777---using 78 grains by weight, trying to get something consistant from one or the other. Never have I been more frustrated. Maybe a Barnes? Go back to ffg black? Seen great reviews maybe with pyrodex pellets?. Sorry for the dissertation, What say ye?
