Just wish I had Milo's energy!
Need to build one of those black powder tennis ball launchers!
Frisbee? Or... Modify a crossbow to launch frisbees?

Everything in this thread is so very familiar. I have been dogless for six years and it weighs on me. Usually had two or more, big and small. The small ones seem to make up for their size by having outsized personalities. The blind one I had was the sweetest of all. I keep their collars.
I, too, have long wondered about why the death of a beloved dog is such a blow, emotionally, spiritually. Yes -- it does hurt in a way that the death of a relative or even a parent does not. They have been humans' friends and boon companions for 30,000 years or more. I believe the attraction may have become genetic.
And here is proof of a decent man. (For you young pups out there, he's Lyndon Johnson.) Do you sing with your dogs? I did.

My youngest daughter has worked as a vet tech for the last few years and of course putting pets down is part of the job. She said the absolute worst part was when people dropped off dogs to be euthanized instead of staying with them, they are scared and whine for their owners. We owe it to them to be there at the end. Izzy leaves in 2 weeks to start vet school.

My wife used to always have a Chiauauha in the house. She has had 2 .My hunting dogs stayed out in the kennel after their 1st yr. A thing we found strange about the little dog was that for the first month or so the pup was totally ignored. If it got to close to the Reigning King he would swiftly get a light mauling ang sent packing...We were getting a little concerned, when We noticed that after about a month the dogs were inseparable. I had several dogs over the years( I will not leave a dog in a outside kennel alone, It's just not Natural) We came to under stand the drill ,And it happened EVERY timeI got a new retreiver...I you can imagine an 8 # house dog Backing down and sending a 105 # CHESAPEAKE back to his kennel.....I've seen it many times . Goldens , Chessies, and Labs. seems they NEVER forget who the BOSS dog is.We just kept the last 2 labs in the house,(1 at a time)...... Be Safe>>>>>>>Wally

Y’all got me to thinking about one of my dogs that’s passed on. Kaiser was a miniature schnauzer and plum full of himself. Had personality to spare. We used to joke that he didn’t take commands, only suggestions from anyone other than me. He was the alpha of our dogs. You ain’t seen funny till you’ve seen a 80 lbs. lab cowering in front of a little dog. Sucker wasn’t afraid of anything. I used to tell folks he was 21 lbs. of pure fury!
