Analysis showed traces of iron pyrite imbedded in the tinder fungus. It was definately carried as a fire starting aid.

It was one of the five items carried in a hidden pocket sewn into the belt that held up his breechcloth.

Strange how even stone age people had certain items that they considered their "survival kit".

not too strange, for them "life" was what we call "survival".
