I cleaned my CVA mountain rifle the other night and I thought about cleaning the lock mechanism. I took it apart cleaned it thoroughly and lubed it up. I grabbed the stock to insert the lock and a spring fell out of the stock. I have no idea where this spring was located nor where it is supposed to be re-installed. The lock performs as it should without it. The spring is about 5/16" wide by 1 1/4" long it has a full curl in it on one end like it was supposed to have a pin or screw through it and just a hook on the other. Does anyone have a suggestion on where this might go ? Thank you

I'm going to take a wild guess, since I know nothing about the rifle. Could it be the piece that holds the ram rod from falling out of the rifle? Or a trigger return spring?

The ramrod retaining spring is held in place by the front lock bolt. I took mine out of my mountain rifle because it seemed to bind too much on the rod. Have not had any issues with the rod falling out.

Thanks Guys. I appreciate the help. I am sure that is what it is.

I have a C.V.A. Mountain Rifle also and this sounds exactly like the ramrod retaining spring.........................watch yer top knot................
