Original Springfield musket, lock marked 1848, and barrel is marked 1855. The barrel is .69 rifled and bore is good.
The lock works well, and the gun is in very shootable condition. The barrel is like brand new underneath and is
numbered 14 on barrel and stock. There is a name stamped into the stock on both sides, and one scratched on.
GEO. E .THORNE on both sides, but the middle initial might be an R, or F?? The scratched one is Geo Mowbray
Dec, 19 1907. This gun could be significant historically with enough research that may be done. The only history
I know of is that an old guy in NY gave it as a tip for work done on his house. 1950.00 plus shipping, any questions
please ask

Geo W, Mowbray

Plently of those Mowbray Boys Listed....could have been handed down to a relative from the date.
