out of state hunting trips?

I jus was wondering if anyone has took there muzzleloader out of state long on a long trip hunting I'm in tn I would love to go out west and hunt with my muzzleloader just been curious

If you are flying make sure whatever powder you use is available at your final destination. You cannot take blackpowder on a plane. If you are driving, no issue. When I hunted in Namibia a few years ago wound going modern centerfire because of availability or rather lack of availability of blackpowder.

Ive been to SD, WY, NE, NM, CO, UT and ID. Most more than once, some several times. I haven’t regretted any of them. If you can swing it, do it. The scenery is fantastic and the game is a great bonus. Do your research well on which area to hunt.

I have taken and successfully used various flintlocks to hunt in Montana, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Nebraska and Ontario for mule deer, whitetail deer, turkeys, more turkeys and black bear (respectively). It's worth the effort to make it happen.

Keep in mind that you *cannot* fly with black powder, so be sure to do some research on how you will procure it when you arrive! Do this homework WELL before your hunt. If you drive, you should have no issues, just be sure to store it safely in transit.

Have not gone to another state, but went to Canada a few years ago for bear. Got one with my trade gun at about 20 yards. He ran about 50 yards and piled up. Good eating.

I've been to adjoining states, and to Canada. It's a bit different when crossing an international border. The Canadians really inspected my rifle. Not because it was a problem but because they were genuinely interested in a functioning, repro flintlock that wasn't a musket. Apparently a lot of the reenactors near their border go back and forth, Canadians coming down for events and "Yanks" going North for events. But I digress...,

The only thing I found was that it was a very good idea to review the location of the local "checking station" IF that state does physical checking of the game animal, and the HOURS. Don't assume that harvesting a deer in that fading light on that last day, the local checking station will be "open late". Murphy's law, that will be the deer it takes hours to find, and "it was right there all the time"...

Used to go to NM back in the day. (The mid ‘80’s).

Mebbe do a ML hunt (elk) next year at the family Colorado ranch. Too much logging and beetle kill clean up going on there this year.

I do enjoy chasing them with my original, old, wore out unmentionables up there tho. But several of my flinters keep calling to me to haul them up. Last years cow was in absolutely perfect fusil range. Mebbe a 35 yd shot.

Have nothing against long distance hunting, just to prefer to spend my money and time in my home state of Missouri. I like to travel states to admire the scenery and frankly enjoy the company and hospitality of the country folks.

I travel West every year from Iowa and this year I went to Alaska. I love to see new country. I never have taken my Muzzleloader. I do have it on my to do list when I retire but no one I hunt with also muzzleloader hunts.

that me nobody's hunt much with muzzleloader and traditional muzzleloader are next to extinct but that a great thing for me bc I buy them really cheap
