If you are going to be hunting with your ML, it makes sense to practice with the rod in-place. Keep every single variable as similar as possible. I use a bronze range rod and never pull the 'field' rod when at the range.
I don't think about ram rods when hunting as reloading is not required if I do my part ,so extra ammo isn't needed .It's a habit!/Ed

If you are getting that size group at 30 yards, you have bigger problems than if the ramrod is in or out.

The ramrod thing wasn’t a problem. Just a random thought.

I may get the Renegade dialed in eventually. Maybe, maybe not. Don’t matter, it’s just an old rusty gun I fixed up for a little plinking.

It takes a LOT more than 3 shots to be statistically accurate. Maybe 10 groups would start to show some differences, but more would be better. Then you have to take in atmospheric differences also. Almost too much to think about when you get right down to it.

Yep. That’s what I said, ‘30 yards bench rest’. I read it twice to make sure. What did you hear? 🙂

"Almost too much to think about" You are on the money! Also people need to know that a lot of small things can add up to one big thing.
