I live in a state that used to have a dedicated Black Powder season. Never saw another hunter in the woods during those days. Then came in-lines, plastic stocks, sabot bullets, and scopes. Black powder season just became an extended rifle season, but it did not end there. Now, Black Powder season has gone the way of the Dodo, and we have an abomination called Alternative Methods Season. Anything goes, including scoped, bolt-action "handguns", and AR platforms in 300 Blackout, as long as the stock is detachable, thus making it a "handgun". Now the woods are filled with guys buying unlimited doe tags, who are eradicating the deer herds on public land. Game management policies are dictated by auto insurance lobbyists to reduce deer/car collisions. Meanwhile, us guys who used to hunt with a traditional muzzleloader and enjoy solitude, now have to share the woods with a vast horde of guys filling freezers with the latest high tech equipment. Fight like Hell to keep your primitive season primitive.
