This is for anyone who has the Guns of the West .44 kit. I have one ordered and I have a question about how much powder you've used in them. I know they're supposedly made for 25grs of powder but has anyone tried loading them with 30grs. If you have did you have to make the paper longer and if you did how much longer does the paper need to be?

It’s not the cylinder but the conical bullet just barely fits under the opening of the barrel assembly cutout. I’m afraid 30 grains would make it a tighter fit during loading. Maybe not. It’s just so easy to use the kit’s built in measure.

Oh a conical? I only plan on shooting .454 round ball

I purchased the Cap&Ball paper cartridge former and find it to work well for me. The .44 caliber former will produce a paper cartridge that will hold a .25 gr charge of 3F black powder. I have extended the male former to make a longer paper tube. I can load 45 - 50 gr of 3F for my Walker, 35 gr. for my Ruger Old Army and 25 gr for my other Italian black powder revolvers with a round ball.

Just wanted to include my update on my Guns of the West .44 paper cartridge kit. Just finished making up 12-25gr cartridges using the kit and nitrate paper. Now just waiting for the glue stick glue to dry and then I'll melt some lube and dip the cartridges.
