As best as i remember, my first few attempts were with "dried, whole kernel" corn. No luck there. My later attempts i know were with "dried,cut kernel" corn. Still no luck. I'll go back to "whole kernel" and try it again when i get around to it next time. Thanks fellows for all the info!!!
 
What they call "whole kernel" at the store probably isn't. Just buy some corn on the cob, skin back the shucks, and hang it up to dry for a few weeks. When it is completely dried out the kernels will pop right off the cobs with just a little effort. That's what you want.
