How many of you guys hunt while trying to be PC? I'm interested in PC hunting this season, but unfortunately ML season is in December for me. It could be mighty cold here and I don't want to be miserable. How do you stay warm? What tips have you learned?

Grew up hunting in Northern Wisconsin. Gets nippy in November.
Hat to start with. A wool toque or a canadian hat will do you fine.
Feet. Add an extra layer to your calves and your feet will be warmer. Wool leggings are pc and work just fine.
Extra layers on the shoulders help, too. Find a rifleman's frock in wool with capes over the shoulders.
Silk scarf for your neck opening.
Wool knee britches, and if you have to ford a stream there are few garments more practical. Just strip off your wool stockings & leggings.
All these garments were available in the day. They worked fine, then. They still work. :winking:

I never hunt with a PC. Laptop, maybe.

I have a red wool sleeved weskit (lined) that had I purposely made for hunting and to wear over a few layers. A red wool voyageur's cap to top it off. I also have a pair of dark green wool leggins that are fairly warm. I wouldn't even consider being out in the local woods during or near our deer season in the natural browns of linen or buckskin.

Is polypropylene underwear PC? I hope so. I also wear modern Thinsulate lined waterproof boots. Someday, if I can get my act together, I'll go with fleece lined moccasin boots and snowshoes. I've seen lots of exciting times had by guys wearing smooth leather boots on ice and snow.

Mr. Paco97,
We routinely hunt at -20 degrees below zero with complete comfort. Several layers of wool is very effective. If the wind kicks up, a layer of canvas over the wool makes all the difference in the world.

I've switched from polypro to silk longhandles. Polypro gets a funky smell by the end of the day. I know, :) that's me that I'm smellin'.

Mr. LeatherMoose,
Just a thought. We have found that "ultra Downy" April Fresh added to the rinse cycle (when washing polypro items) removes and then reduces the accumilation of a "funky smell" over a period of several days wear, when in the bush. Works for us.
Best Wishes
