That seems to be the bottom line.
:agree:
I seem to recal Remington a few years ago produced a (admittedly, limited) RB and ML; I don't recall the asking prices, but they both were quite expensive even in US$. More importantly, the ML was basically assembled from parts like a "kit", with a GM barrel; a member in one of my clubs purchased a ML new; the build quality can only be described as poor!
I have no problem with Remington, but this perhaps is just one example of trying to compete in a possibly overcrowded / oversupplied market.

Wow this thread is rolling in all sorts of directions (good reading). My original post was not intended to slam DP products. In fact, that Indian Trade Musket is very nice in other ways. The lock sparks great and the gun never fails to fire. Also, DP cut the stock with just the right amount of "cast off" that places the right eye dead center down the barrel. The gun comes up nice and points easily...important on flying game using shot. The guy that bought the gun from me took it out duck hunting on his own small wooded pond and claims he shot three ducks with three shots. Darn! I knew I should have charged him more!!

I just latched on to a DP Gemmer Sharps. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yey, but if it shoots as good as it looks, WOW!!
Duane,
I'm sure it will shoot well & you will have a ball with it!
Recently I purchased a DP Sharps Creedmoor #2 45/70 (AWESOME LOOKING) and have spent the last 2 months shooting barrel in. In Feb I will start to get serious with it, I hope ::. FYI my STANDARD TARGET load consists of 54gns Pioneer (Wano) 2F (vol) compressed, milk container card wad, lube wad, another milk cont wad & RCBS 45-500-BPS. What is your load?
Whilst checking my powder supply on the WE I discovered an unopened container of Swiss 1/2F; even though I still have about 10kgs (20lbs) of Pioneer I am thinking that eventually I may switch to Swiss for everything, even though supply in Australia can be difficult at times. Next time I reload 45/70 I think I'll give the Swiss a go!
