I found this at an Antique Shop today.
There appears to be no maker Mark's, only "Derringer Philadelphia" on the lock.
No proofing Mark's so does not appear European replica.
Its Smoothbore, best I can tell due to even coat of dark rust. I did not have a bore light and obviously not patch and cleaner. Dont know if the barrel is pitted under the rust.
The Lock is in pretty good condition, a couple 'sticky' spots but may just need some TLC....he did not seem to like my idea of taking the Lock off to see the inside. Nipple appears good condition and maybe as old as the gun.

Any comments? Not sure if I want to run back and get it (wife says I already spent my allowance)

Looks like a reproduction to me. The condition of the stock seems pretty good for an original. The price seems kind of steep if it is indeed a reproduction.

Lack of proofs may just mean it was made from a kit. The hammer also seems to say Ardesa (Spanish repro). Can't really tell from your photo if the barrel is round or octagonal, or if it has a sight. If octagonal, then it seems to resemble this one:

However I don't know a lot about Derringers, other than even during the period they were made there were many imitators, so I am far from an expert on such things, and I am sure someone will be a long shortly who knows more about these than I do. That is the great part about this site.

It is identical in every way to my Dikar. (made in spain) They sold for less than $50.00 new.
The back action lock is known for being weak and prone to misfires.

The asking price is way too high IMO. They were crudely made.

The barrel on mine has 3 octagonal flats on top and is round on the bottom.

Looks like a reproduction. Deringer had only one r in the middle of his last name; most or all of the reproductions have two r's. The reproductions are much larger/blockier than originals. This attached photo is of an original showing the "Deringer Philadelphia" mark.

I just noticed that Derringer on the lock plate of mine is spelled DERRINEER.
The same as the OP's photos and the video.

Thanks all, I will keep my cash.
The barrel is round, no sights, looks like a cut down musket. I did not pay attention to the spelling.

That's a CVA kit. I put this one together in the early 80's. Price...$19.95
It is rifled. If you can't see the grooves it's pretty rusted!!

The asking price of $285 is bordering on criminal!!

Yup, it reminds me of another handgun I saw at a show many years ago - along the barrel it had the engraved script 'CULT POTENT FOREARMS'......
