I have had two T/Cs and two Lyman GPRS. None have had any noticeable play. The hooks fit snugly in the tangs.

You might try some thin shims on each side of the hook to see if that tightens it up.
 
I had quite a few phone conversations with Don. It was always a good visit.

You might try drilling and tapping the sides of the breech tang where the hook goes threw and using set screws from each side . Tighten just enough to take out the slack and still be able to remove barrel . Maybe use some lock tight on the set screws when you have the slack taken up and still can remove the barrel from the tang . This method along with the bedding should make a rock solid breech . Just one option to consider.
 
@creek , good job digging through the archives, there's tons of info to be found in the back pages, :thumb:
But I'm pretty sure the OP found a fix for his gun 9yrs ago, 😉
