Please help

I accidentally loaded a round ball into my flintlock and can't get it out can anyone give any advice to get it out.

I forgot to load a charge and put in the round ball. My ball remover can't quite get it unstuck.

Is there anything I can do.

Thanks guys I just went and checked them out I got an idea of what to do

Remove the nipple and get as much powder in as you can. Then replace the nipple and fire it. Repeat if necessary. If it's a flinter it will take a little more to get the powder in but basically the same idea.

But you just need to take the time to slowly work powder in through the touch hole.

Is your ramrod threaded at both ends? I have a T shaped short starter that can be used to extend the ramrod to make cleaning and ball pulling easier. One might just give you the extra length you need. Plus it makes it a ton easier to actually screw the ball puller into the ball. Other than that, take it to gunsmith who specializes in muzzle loaders. It’s something they see a lot and it won’t bankrupt you!

After about 20 years of muzzleloading I dry-balled for my first time last week.! Must have been something in the air because I also loaded my first ever double charge, in anything (I reload also)! Wasn't a disaster, nothing damaged except my pride. I was shooting a .45cal percussion rifle. Imagine my suprise though when that 100gr charge of 2f under a prb went off - when I was expecting 50gr! There's still a bruise under my cheek bone!!! I know, hold on to the rifle stupid.

The ball remover will get it out, it's just bloody hard going. Use some leverage.

I too got this predicament out of the way early, and thanks to this site was able to avoid a gunsmith.

Used a brass ramrod with a ball puller, tapped the rod with a mallet, lightly as I threaded the puller into the ball. Kept going until it didn't want to turn - well seated. I shot a little penetrating oil down the bore, then put the end of the rod in my bench vise, and pulled the gun off the rod - And there was the ball on the puller.

Thinking about putting a chain through the hole in the ball and wear it around my neck when I go shooting.

a bit of lubricant an a few minuts soak time helps too... even if you only have water, it will help. (soaks into the patch)

Don't worry, you will. Probably the next time out, or while teaching someone else so you have an audience, now that you said something.

Didn't we just have a thread on this a couple days ago that went on & on for over 75 posts? The very same people are repeating the same thing over & over. He was referred to the other thread & responded in the 4th post that he found it & had an idea of what to do. We are now on post #17 & counting. Unless he asks for more help is it necessary to repeat another 75 posts on the subject? Just sayin'

For the OP, adding to my original post, I am talking about something like this from Cabelas. It should give you the additional length you need to get the ball puller down to the ball. Then as the others have said, add lube!

When I did it I had to stand on the T-handle and pull hard on the stock to get it started.
