What Idaho Ron says above. You will need 1/4x28 NF thread Zerk fitting for that TC. If using the small grease gun & cartridges you will need several cartridges. If the maxi ball is buggered up and the grease leaking past it cut some cleaning patches 1/8” wide and force as many into the nipple hole as you can. Then start pumping grease again, the patching strips act as a gasket. Messy but effective

Thanks,

You can just put a patched round ball on top for a gasket.

Have TC Hawkens 45cal percussion with a maxi ball stuck. Ramrod with extractor broke off in barrel trying to remove it. Tried CO2 and putting pyrodex in torch hole and it won't budge. Other than removing breech plug any other ideas>
Dump some WD40 down the barrel, and remove the nipple. Use a good air compressor with air blow gun that has a pointed rubber snout to get a good seal. Make sure compressor is regulated for 80 PSI or better. Point the gun in a safe direction and your problem will be gone.

I really don't understand why every time this subject comes up, there are so many people who seem to be flat out against the grease gun method.
I just don't get it..... especially once I watched Ron's video, far less mess and fuss than I anticipated.

It doesn't matter if the ball/ballette/bullet/maxi-ball can be pushed further down the bore or not,,,, which it certainly matters if any powder is trickled in through the flash hole channel for an attempt to shoot the ball out. The projectile doesn't come shooting out at high pressure and high velocity like shooting it out or using an air compressor. Overall, the grease would seem safer and can be done anywhere.

What is the down side?

1/4 x 28 grease fitting and a grease gun is all you should need. It's surprisingly easy and doesn't make near the mess one might imagine. I had a ball stuck in a TC Hawken that sat for a year and a half. 2 pumps and everything popped loose. Was able to ease everything out with a standard vall puller after that. Got myself a pot of boiling water to draw up through the nipple hole. The whole ordeal took about 30 minutes total.
