I use brass shotgun shells with a cork or untrimmed 45 cal brass ie.. 45-110 brass.
Looks way old timey and I put them on my belt grinder to get rid of the centerfire look.

I keep thinking about this. I do lots of whittling, including my own powder measures. Basically drill the hole and whittle away everything around it you don't want. No reason a guy couldn't do the same thing for storing premeasured charges. Heck, if corks weren't PC, it would be easy to whittle your own stoppers, just like I'm doing for horns.

Bigger question though, has anyone ever seen old whittled "jugs" like this? It would have been easy to do sitting by the fire. I guess for that matter, any such thing out there as whittled powder measures?

I can't believe no-one has mentioned these or that more of you aren't aware or don't use these either. I have a bunch of these and love them.

Go to Dixie GW and search "Quick load target tubes" or "Quick load hunting tubes". I've been using mine for a couple of years with GREAT results. Absolutely love em. They are washable and re-usable. I even put lubed minies in them as the rings are outside the tubes and they make no mess in my cartridge box tins.

I have 100 .58 red tubes, 150 yellow .44 tubes and 100 white .36 tubes for the revolvers. Speeds things up immensely. It's even fun to sit on the couch with the girl and load them up a day or two before we hit the range.

Here's a pic or two.

The red tubes from RMC will hold 150 grains of 2f triple seven. American Pioneer premeasured loads come in some real nice plastic tubes that will hold 100 grains. 35 MM film cans are free and work, but are bigger than needed. The idea of the medical tubes is great ans since my wife is a vet tec I need to ask her if she has some at work.

The RMC tubes are just the right diameter too! Soft & plyable, and you can pinch the end to control powder flow, if needed, especially on a windy day! They also fit right into my .50 cal rifle bore, so nothing gets spilt, even in the wind! They also aren't too big to pour into the chambers of a .44 C&B revolver cylinder either.

I own over 150 of them now, and I'll buy more if I think that I'll need them for competiton...my Son and I compete side by side and both of us use them!

When it is time to go hunting it is very hard to beat TC's 4 N 1 loaders. They will hold your powder charge, cap, bullet, and will start your bullet/ball.
