If you believe the part was glued together at one point and you were not informed of the glue job ahead of time, it's 100% on the seller.

The USPS has no role in this regarding you getting your money back quickly.

The seller should file a claim and wait for his money.

I don't think there's a "claim" to be had. Apparently the "item" was broken by the seller, prior to selling it. There's no professional entity to have a claim filed against. The Post office isn't to blame, it wasn't broken in shipment. The Item maker isn't to be blamed since they didn't break it. This is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, and COMPLETELY on the seller!

Good luck.

The seller has the responsibility to package the product in a manner to eliminate damage during shipment. Period. If it arrives damaged it is his fault. Period. One of the reasons I haven’t purchased any of the items I’ve seen on this site that interest me. Amazon takes returns no questions asked!!!!
Strongly disagree. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. can damage a Sherman tank. Good packing is important but nothing can always stand up to abuse.

Last year I sold a Morse code key to a guy. It was broken in shipment so I sent all his money back, filed a claim and he returned the key. USPS paid within 2 weeks. Then I realized he had not included some weights for it. His granddaughter had moved them so he just bought them. Then I sold the broken key minus weights for half of what I originally was asking for someone to restore.

I actually came out ahead on that one. Not by my choice though.

All I have on the internet is my word. I will jump through hoops to make sure the buyer is happy with his purchase.

It is not the fault of the purchaser that the product arrived broken. Either the seller tried to put one by him, or the product was poorly packaged, or the shipping company mistreated the package. In all three scenarios the buyer is blameless and shouldn’t have to wait for his money to be returned.

Yes, they can and sadly do,, a lot!
But in this case the item was "glued" back together,, none of the shipping outfit's attempt to make a repair before delivery,, they just deliver the damaged goods.
Thank goodness it's already been resolved with a refund.

Buyer can check the pics that described the item purchased. They know where the break is and if it was pictured. If not ........

I feel strongly that we all need to know who this guy is. This guy ponyed up only bc he was concerned about being outed. If this is his character, he may do it again to someone else. Makes me reconsider purchasing on this forum.

I've only had to file 2 claims in the past. 1 with USPS and one with UPS. USPS completely lost the package. All I ever got was, We're looking for it. Never did find it or get the claim paid. UPS package torn to bitkis/broken stock. After all the stuff, I got the standard excuse, "packaging not up to their standards". I pack my items very well. Therefore, I don't insure packages anymore.

Bill Thompson of Hammered Leatherworkz make a custom gunbelt for me that was too small to buckle I waited 6 months to get it. I returned it and a year later he still has not issued a refund for the $328.00 nor my rig. And will not answer phone calls or messages. He is a real Jerk!
