I think it's a case of smoke 'em if you got 'em, literally. I don't care to store a quantity of BP sufficient to order and cover the hazmat fee. Pyrodex and T7 I can find locally and, for me, it serves the purpose. I don't particularly care to be told I'm making excuses, etc, when it comes to what I choose to buy or use. When I was young and wet behind the ears, I would see guys with CVA's and Spanish guns and sort of think, boy, they should really step up to better quality. Now I realize they were just enjoying the sport in their own way and more power to them. Same with if you shoot BP or substitutes. A place for everything, and everything in its place.

$9.99 lb here too. I got some and have shot it in a few guns with zero issues. NOT enough times to say if it may become my sub of choice, currently T7. I use black powder mostly these days

$91.91 for 4lbs of Graf' and Sons shipped to your door including all fees.
That's $22.98 per lb.

Clyde you know you can't convince these guys of anything. If it's not at Wal Mart, it's not going to be bought.

You can say that but that's more than my car insurance costs..... So considering my budget I can buy 4 pounds of powder or have car insurance.... Sorry I got to pick insurance im not making a single excuse but not all of us have the resources to just buy what we want some of us have to spend money on what we need and hope we have enough to get to the next check so before people say excuses this or walmart that maybe they should consider the fact that just maybe some of us are trying to get by and maybe if we are lucky shoot a little on the side..... I give up a whole lot for my family. Pardon me if shooting real black shouldn't be one of those.... Good greif

VERY well said! Your priorities are lined up just about perfect! Once yer ahead in this game of life you can do more of what you want and if you want Pyrodex then, BUY A CASE!! If ya want real, BUY A CASE! :hatsoff:

I'm just glad to see younger folks shooting traditional muzzleloaders. I've been there where the budget didn't allow for much extra when raising a family. I'm at the point now where I can shoot black, but have used the other stuff in the past. I still burn some of it in my cap guns because I have it, it was part of a package of stuff I picked up at a gun show or garage sale. I'm too tight to just use it as fertilizer if it still goes bang and sends a ball down range. Now lets make some smoke.

Clyde, all of those "facts" only matter if one wants to play dress up and try to live like Ol' Davy. On the other hand, if the shooter is like many muzzleloader shooters and only wants to shoot a muzzleloading gun and not play dress up those "facts" are meaningless. I gave up playing dress up years ago but I still love to shoot my muzzleloaders and if I didn't already have a good supply of black powder and was unfortunate enough to live in a place where black powder was not to be found, you can bet your booties I'd be shooting a synthetic in my caplocks.....while I wear my usual jeans, T shirt and ball cap.

There is a place for everyone in the ml game. Although, some of us do get a very tight posterior pucker at the sight of inlines.

I dont even own an inline and though I have nothing against them they are boring... If I want to shoot something like that ill get a rifle if I want to shoot a muzzleloader im going to shoot a real one lol

I assume that's a monthly rate?....Could you ride a bike for a month?...or sacrifice something else?...Maybe eat beans and rice for a month?... :idunno:

When presented with a problem, I look for solutions.

All for the sake of purchasing the real thing? Seems absurd when he has a viable option readily available.

If I had no other alternatives I could see making some sacrifices in order to afford a large purchase such as that, but there's no way I'd ride a bike or eat beans and rice if I had something that worked just fine within my reach and at a reasonable price. Of course I'd have to buy a bike first...

Well seeing as I can't make my family eat one way to afford something I can get an equivalent of cheaper.... And its 15 miles to work ... If I was single I could afford a 1000 dollar gun cause I wouldn't have hardly any expenditure... My car insurance for just my car is 20 buck a month but my wife has a much nicer newer car.... Sorry ill shoot pyrodex to keep my family happy

Maybe on my first job review ill get another 1.50 on the hour till then its fine like it is

Not for those who like and enjoy shooting Pyrodex...I shot it myself for years....

But, for those who want to shoot the real stuff and think they cant afford, or cant obtain it.
They need to accept that they are probably just procrastinating....
I was 12 years old when I bought my first gun...No help, no job, ...I saved every penny, dime, nickel, and quarter that passed through my fingers for a year.....And I bought my first gun.
