Crow-Feather:with a light striking hammer, I found the Remington's will fire when others won't.
I always thought they had a thicker metalCrow-Feather:
I have found this to be true also, I always thought it was because the RWS caps are a skosh smaller and needed a bit more to drive them against the nipple to set them off
That could be too, they did seem to be a bit harder to firmly mount on the nipples of my 1851 Colt repro. However, I remember measuring the comparative diameters with a micrometer and the Remington brand came out a skosh wider. I will grant this was in no way a scientific comparison as I only checked a few of each, not enough to gain any statistical significance. It was also back in the late chalcolithic era when remington caps came in a tin, painted white with a logo on the top and RWS came in a silver tin with a red very sticky paper label on top, that made good containers for lubed patches, nipples, snaps, punch heads, and to put the current rws caps in as I am hard on plastic.I always thought they had a thicker metal
