Aaaaand it's not just muskets nor even just 'land Reenactments' either, about 5 years ago in SoCal we were doing a mock sea battle with deck canons when someone (I forget the ship) somehow 'accidentally' loaded the canon with Birdshot and sprayed the deck of another ship hitting a passenger and (I think) the Captain (or maybe it was a crewman?). No one hurt bad, just flesh wounds and the offending ship was Banned for the year from Any tall ship activities (also made the news which is double bad for everyone)

And then there was the Cowboy Shootout incident (Texas I think) where a guy 'accidentally' loaded with Live Ammo. Story was that he had been "shooting at the range earlier" and was late for the show and......'forgot'.....

....I'm done now, we don't speak about 'Sword Reenactments' here

“I forgot I had a real sword…”
-Red, looking for band-aids…

@Panama Red
That wasn't a joke, the idiot took the blade, 'pressed' it back into the handle and went right back into the 'stage fight' like nothing had happened....my partner and I back away and LEFT in a hurry.

Sword types:
1- Costume (wall hangers, sometimes w/edge)
2- Stage (often blunt aluminum)
3- Battle Ready (harden Steel w/edge)
4- 'Katana' quality (Razor sharp and hardened)

...quick simple description (one in my story was #1)

It may not have been a joke, but it was funny. Hope no one was hurt by it.
-Red, laughing inappropriately some times…

Yeah , what few reenactments I participated in you had to give up your ramrod and they advised us to not point at others when firing , point above , and after a certain distance no firing allowed ....

Just curious, why were the cops called? Did he do something intentionally or just make a boneheaded mistake. If just a mistake seems a little harsh to call the cops.
Probably gunning for a “ friend “ that is too close to his wife or girlfriend…….
