"That's good to know-the .565 shot good..what kind of loads are working for you?....Thanks...Dan"

32" Getz 1-56" 7 groove seems to like patches thicker than .018" whether the balls be .565" cast or .575" swaged, and powder charges 80-120gr Goex, or KIK ffg.

I gave some .565" to a friend, and he thought they shot as well as the .575" and were easier to load. He shoots 80gr Swiss fffg in his 30" Getz barrel.

I have another stock being carved for a 36" .58 1-70" GM barrel, so was following this thread.

Thanks for sharing your loads

Received a Lee .575 double cavity mold from TOTW today.poured 125 rb's and went to the man cave to find the right patch here's my result..... ticking .015 lubed rb .0576 measured after pour and cool down--took a pic of the rb after I pulled it from the bore--I wanted to see the ticking weave in the rb..will test this ball and patch combo on Friday.

My wife is a quilter, so finds collects fabric and finds her way to MANY fabric shops. On one of her last trips she brought me a sample of pillow ticking that measured .023". I've also raided her denim collection and found some of it as thick as .032". I gave some strips to a friend working with a new rifle, and his rifle seemed to like cotton duck(.023"). His recovered patches could have been shot again, and the patched balls could be thumb started.

This ball and patch loads with just a slight tap on the short starter..this barrel is new might have to polish the crown some...Thanks for the info....Dan

I'm interested to see your results. My hunting pards version of that barrel spat shreds of cloth with a tight patch, until he coned the barrel.

By any chance if you picked up one of those fired fiber wads, would you post a picture?
Thanks.

GC- This is all I found on top of the snow--the fiber wads just come apart....Dan

GC..The .500 circle fly wads just disappear.I shot over 50 times this session and there was quite a bit of fiber in 10 to 15 yard area..the leather wads went 15 to 30 yards down range a couple still had the patch in them.

nice range! similar to mine. looking for a gm .58 barrel to but seem to be out every where or not going to produce them anymore. had a chance to pick up a cva mt rifle at a gun show in .58 for 250.00. guess i should have grabbed it.

Chopper have you tried Tip Curtis? "Frontier Shop"? 615-654-4445 He's got Stuff!

Chopper forgot to mention- This range is at the Berlin Conservation club grounds.. get this 5.00 bucks a year! 25- 50- 100 covered benches--Pretty much have had it to myself all winter!

$5 no kidd'in.
i'll have to check with tip.
stupid thing is, i had one and sold it like a dummy. why do i do that? :idunno:

Good Cheer send a range report when you get to shoot.Interested in your results...Dan

makeumsmoke-
i got a barrel coming from totw! :)
they are in stock now so if anybody wants one get it while the getting is good.
in looking at your chrono velocities,
seems that fps drops back down after 95 grs. strange. must reach a peak pressure then drop off.
and thanks for posting those loads- that will save me some time and effort. :hatsoff:
btw it is in .58 cal
