took my new to me 54 lyman GPR left hand flintlock to the range. Call her patience as I have none and it took three weeks for the rifle to get to me in the mail. GRRRRR....Yea I know, patience. so guy next to me is shooting a 16in AR with scope at 50 yds I was shooting 50 yards as well. He was getting 5 inch groups with it at best which really shocked me. We stopped to check targets and I looked for my patches, found 5 perfect but dirty ones and said hum i will just reuse these I guess and he laughed as he was checking his target. I then put out 2 clay pigeons at 100 yards and ask him to spot and see where I hit. My bad, I was only shooting 40 gr 3f and knew it was going to be low. He told me on the first shot 4-5 inches low. Said thanks and good to go. 2 of 2 no more clay pigeons and I was using the used patches that he watched me reuse.
I looked over at him, his deer in the headlights look and he said "wow, with open sights as well, you are outshooting me with my scope at 50 yards." I smiled went out picked up my target and patches and said "humm, patches still good, might as well use them again" He put his scoped rifle away in a case and went home.
I guess these 54 left handed Lyman GPR flintlocks can shoot huh? Am I really being cheap using the same patch 3-4 times?
