Re-bore a 50 cal t-c

I had Bobby rebore my T/C Renegade last year and I must say it was a beautiful job. That gun is an absolute tack driver and is very easy to load. I couldn't be happier. I had him put a roundball twist in my gun and like I said, it's a kiler.

I tried the lapping coumpound and steel wool , i hear about slugging a bore and other methods. what is your best idea to do this?

That depends somewhat on the rifling depth. With a TC you're likely to need to save all the depth you can and that makes slugging a good way to go. I did that in the seventies with a weirdo Japanese made barrel and it worked well. If the rifling is already real deep and you can afford to loose some, then using scotchbrite to compress a flannel lap cloth against the rifling can work well. Fire lapping is another alternative but takes more time and expense.

After reading several posts speaking of the high quality work that Bob Hoyt does, I gotta call he and get his thoughts about a job I've been thinking about for years.

Although I have a TC Encore, it's been sitting pretty much unused for the last 10 years since I prefer shooting round balls through traditional muzzleloaders using black powder, caps, etc.

I wonder if Bob could rebore my 50 cal Encore barrel into a 54 cal 1-70 round bottom cut. ??? What do you guys think?

It's killing me to have this rifle lay around unused, but I just love throwing plain 'ol patched round balls instead of fancy shamcy sabots. :v
