Reattaching brass nub to short starter?

The short brass ball seater fell from my wooden short starter today.

What's the best way to keep it where it's supposed to be?

Short answer - Epoxy.
Long answer - Dump the short-starter and load without. They aren't truly necessary...(though some will disagree vehemently)

Gorilla Glue worked for my short starter and also for the wooden knob handle on my stainless steel range rod.

if it's the nub that only sticks out about 3/8ths inch or so you could center drill it with a small bit & use a bit of epoxy & a small brass wood screw to re-attach it.

I just filed a few grooves around my brass nub low enough not to show when inserted into the wood handle. Then use either epoxy or even a good wood glue to hold it. The grooves fill with the glue and do a great job of keeping the piece in place.
