I"m shooting 80grs of 3fg with a patched round ball in my A&H Mt.Rifle and I don't notice much if any recoil. My 40cal poorboy using 40grs of 3fg and a patched round ball has no recoil at all. I like shooting black powder guns because of the lack of recoil. I even had a breech loading .54cal Sharps that I loaded with a mini-bullet and 60grs of 3fg and didn't notice much recoil either.
