Understood, I put hickory in places where it won't show to strengthen any cracked area.

I am redoing a TC Hawken stock that I bought not knowing it had multiple cracks in the lock inlet. I use hickory ramrod cut offs to fill cracked places. This lock bolt hole was cracked so it got drilled out and a hickory dowel inserted, I later stained it to look like walnut. The crack ran all the way to the sear hole, I replaced that wood with walnut, if you look close you can see the glue lines.

I did the same on the stripped tang screw holes but replaced the screws with bolts treaded into brass bushings. The rear one has already been stained to hide the repair.
